The Fable Episodes 1–25 Anime Streaming Review

You can’t judge a book by its cover, so you can’t always judge an anime from its art style. The Fable, a crime drama/comedy streaming on Hulu in the US and Disney+ everywhere else is like this. Don’t be put off by its ugly visuals and grim, limited animation. This is a special show with an offbeat sense of humor that is absolutely worth your time.

I’ve no idea how it managed to score 25 episodes when so many other shows only get 12 or 13, perhaps a single-cour equivalent budget was extended over the twice the time? That would explain the many static shots and minimal motion. There are apparently two movies on Netflix that adapt exactly the same material — I’ll have to check them out, because I really enjoyed The Fable. I’ve written a full review for Anime News Network you can check out below.

I’ll be back soon on Medium with the second part of my Summer 2024 Postmortem for AniTAY. I’m unsure if I should wait for some shows to conclude this weekend, as the Autumn season is already in full swing. Anyway, keep an eye out for it!
