I reviewed this Netflix anime’s first season of twelve episodes for Anime News Network back in early June. The second season dropped onto streaming in July, so follow the link below to my review.

T・P BON is a fun throwback to 1970s/80s anime and manga SF adventure stories, but given a shiny modern sheen by studio Bones as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations. It’s based on a manga by Doraemon co-creator Fujiko F. Fujio, and follows a duo of teenage Time Agents as they traverse the timelines saving the lives of people who would otherwise have died.

There’s not been much buzz about this one amongst the wider anime community, perhaps because it’s so retro, but also because, as per Netflix’s bizarre scheduing decisions, it didn’t get to stream weekly. This is odd to me, as such an episodic show would seem ideal for a weekly streaming model.

I’ll be back soon to discuss many of the other anime shows streaming this season, here on Medium.
