I absolutely adore the Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato remake series, and my 2022 overview of its first season was only the second article I had published on Anime News Network. You can read it via the link below.

Star Blazers 2205 is the long-awaited two-movie/eight-episode follow-up to Star Blazers 2202, itself a sequel to first reboot series Star Blazers 2199. It’s taken its sweet time to gain an English release — debuting in Japanese movie theatres as a duology of movies in 2021, it took three years for Crunchyroll to pick up the episodic version — after they’d already begun streaming sequel series 3199. The English-language release history of the Star Blazers remake series is an absolute mess, and it’s such a shame the show isn’t more popular than it is. It’s probably my favourite anime space opera.
