Not Every Artificial Intelligence is Out To Kill You: AI in Anime
After something of a delay (I submitted it 10 months ago!) here’s my latest article published on Anime News Network:
I love SF that deals with the implications of Strong Artificial Intelligence, and there are so many anime that take that theme and run with it in directions that might seem very strange to viewers steeped in Western media’s (mainly Hollywood’s) ideas about robots and advanced technology. Oftentimes in comparison, the Japanese outlook on technology is much less dystopian and more light-hearted, and in the case of anime, almost certainly more horny.
