The last month or two I’ve been really busy writing lots of articles for Anime News Network, and coupled with a really awful flu-like illness that flattened me for two weeks, I’ve not had much time to devote to my blog here on Medium. Before I get back up to speed, I’ll post links to all of my ANN stuff here.

First is a review of Kinokoinu, a deeply odd slice-of-life show about Hotaru, a lonely author grieving his pet dog. He becomes the owner of a strange mushroom creature that inserts itself into his life. It’s hard to categorise — not exactly a comedy, not exactly a drama either, it follows the day-to-day life of Hotaru and “Kinokoinu” — literally “mushroom dog”.

This one has seriously melancholy vibes, at least at the beginning. It’s worth persevering with, though. You can read my review at the link below.

Keep an eye out for links to my other recent reviews and articles as I post them in the coming days!
