I’ve always enjoyed audiobooks, especially for long, dull car journeys when listening to music alone isn’t enough to dispel the boredom. I’ll also listen to them while doing the dishes, or idly tapping away at gacha games. This is why my Audible subscription is well used. I initially only agreed to sign up for Audible because my daughter wanted to listen to Stephen Fry’s excellent narration of the Harry Potter novels, so our monthly credits went on them. I was going through a narrative podcast phase at the time, regularly listening to cool and creepy serials like Welcome to Night Vale, Alice Isn’t Dead and SAYER.

However, once we ran out of magical wizardry stories, I discovered that there were a small selection of translated Japanese Light Novels from Yen Audio on the service. Beginning with a handful of NisiOisin’s Monogatari series (for some reason they missed out recording Nisemonogatari and Nekomonogatari (Black), jumping straight from Bakemonogatari and Kizumonogatari to Nekomonogatari (White)), I also listened to multiple volumes of Overlord (fills in a lot of gaps missed out in the anime) and excellent war story 86. I did also listen to the first volume of Tanya the Evil but it bored me senseless.

Recently, publisher Seven Seas have begun adding a few of their titles to audio services like Audible, using their Seven Seas Siren label. The first of these I snapped up were the first two volumes of yuri fantasy I’m in Love with the Villainess, following the recent TV show. I’ve written before about how much I loved the anime, and I was keen to discover what happened next. Follow the link before to read my review of both audiobooks at Anime News Network:

As of writing, volume 3 remains unavailable on Audible, while it does appear on other services. This doesn’t bode well for volume 4, expected on February 8th, and volume 5 sometime in March. There was a delay in volume 2 appearing, but not as long as this — volume 3 was released elsewhere on January 11th. Sort this out, Seven Seas/Audible! I’ve got credits sitting waiting on the rest of this series!
