Dungeon People Anime Series Review

Anime fantasy can get tiresome after a while — especially when it seems the vast majority of new shows in the genre are yet more variations on the tired isekai theme. This year we were spoiled not just with the second half of Frieren, but also Delicious in Dungeon, so all is not lost. While we must wait until next year for the highly anticipated Witch Hat Atelier, the fact that none of these three excellent stories feature a generic Japanese person being reincarnated into a bog-standard, tropey power-fantasy is cause for celebration.

Likewise, Dungeon People isn’t an isekai, Although it’s by no means equal to the previously mentioned titans of recent fantasy anime and manga, it’s a fun time with cute characters and a fun setting. I wrote a full review of the show for Anime News Network, and you can read it at the link below:

I’ve written plenty of other reviews for ANN recently, so feel free to check those out too. There are more ANN reviews in the pipeline! The delayed second part of my Summer 2024 Anime Postmortem is also about to drop imminently on AniTAY here on Medium too! The end of one season and the beginning of the next is a busy time…
